What equipment does my daughter need to play?

The basics are a glove, cleats, helmet and bat. You can find exact details on our Uniform & Equipment page. We are starting an equipment exchange program. So, if you don’t want to make a big investment in gear, come to the Eval Day with some good tennis shoes and we will get you outfitted as best we can.

What if it rains?

We try to decide if games can be played at least 90 minutes before the game. We will post it on this website, on Facebook and Twitter. Keep in mind, if you don’t specifically hear they are cancelled, then we are playing! It is often raining in other areas of Aliso Viejo, but okay at the fields.

Is there a tournament?

Yes! There will be a thrilling single-elimination playoff tournament at the end of each season.

How long is the season and when are the games?

The answer depends on the season:

Spring – from January through April, AVGS plays Spring Season ball. The games are held mostly at our home park at Aliso Viejo Community Park (AVCP). However, some games for 10U and older are played in surrounding cities. During the Spring, games are generally played on Saturdays with a few mid-week games.

All Stars – The All Star season is May and June. This short season allows some of our best players to represent the City of Aliso Viejo in tournaments all over Southern California.

Fall Ball – Fall Ball is played from September through mid-November. Games are played on Sundays. Games are at AVCP and in surrounding cities.

Can my daughter play soccer at the same time?

You bet! We have lots of girls who play both sports. AVGS and AYSO coordinate our game days to try to minimize conflicts for our multi-sport players.

Where are the games played?

Most games are played at the greatest park in Orange County (Our home fields at AVCP.) However, a few games are played in Laguna Niguel, San Juan Capistrano, Mission Viejo, etc.

How does AVGS work ? How may I help?

The AVGS organization is run entirely by volunteers. You may help as a coach, referee, team parent, Board Member or in other areas. AVGS will provide complete training and cover all fees, including background checks.
